Submission procedures

DocEng is a single track conference attended by a community of academic and industrial researchers. At least one author for each paper, poster or application note and all workshop organizers and presenters must register to attend DocEng 2013. If you do not think that one of the authors will be able to attend DocEng to present the work, then please do not submit a paper.

All papers must conform to the ACM SIG Proceedings format . Papers must be submitted to the EasyChair site .
Submission for short papers, posters and application notes will open after full paper submissions have closed.

All submissions will undergo a rigorous single blind review process considering the originality of work, the quality of research or analysis of experience, the relevance to document engineering, and the quality of presentation of ideas.

The kinds of submissions are:

  • Full Papers describing complete works of research (up to 10 pages).
  • Short Papers describing smaller complete works of research or novel challenges or visions (up to 4 pages)
  • Application Notes describing systems or tools of interest to the DocEng community (up to 4 pages)
  • Posters reporting on research in progress (up to 2 pages)

Full papers and short papers will have oral presentations and an optional system demonstration. Posters and application notes have a poster presentation and/or system demonstration. All accepted papers in the above categories will be included in the DocEng proceedings and be published in the ACM Digital Library.

In some cases, reviewers may reject the full paper, but invite the authors to resubmit as a short paper, poster or application note. Unless the reviewers have specifically invited such a resubmission, full paper submissions that have been rejected will not be accepted as short papers, notes or posters. Where reviewers invite a resubmission, authors will be allowed one extra week beyond the stated short paper deadline to prepare and submit the shortened version of their original submission. The resubmitted paper will then be considered along with all the other short paper, poster or application note submissions.

All full papers are eligible to win the ACM SIGWEB DocEng Best Paper Award for 2013.
All full papers for which the primary author was a student at the time the research was conducted are eligible for the DocEng Best Student Paper Award. When submitting such a paper the "Student Paper" category should be selected.

ACM Author-Izer

ACM Author-Izer is a unique service that enables ACM authors to generate and post links on either their home page or institutional repository for visitors to download the definitive version of their articles from the ACM Digital Library at no charge. Downloads through Author-Izer links are captured in official ACM statistics, improving the accuracy of usage and impact measurements.

Consistently linking the definitive version of ACM article should reduce user confusion over article versioning.
After your article has been published and assigned to your ACM Author Profile page, please visit http://www.acm.org/publications/acm-author-izer-service to learn how to create your links for fee downloads from the ACM DL.
