Travel and accommodation

Update, 19 August 2014:
We have extended the deadline for the special conference rates at the two conference hotels to 24 August (US Mountain Time)!
For those of you who are planning to stay at the conference hotel, the special conference rate can be obtained here .
For those of you staying at the secondary conference hotel (nearer the conference site, but not the site of the banquet), the special conference rate can be obtained here . There will be more updates on transportation between these sites and the DocEng site shortly. Note that while traffic can be heavy in Fort Collins, its rectilinear streets and the use of the Rocky Mountains as a guide make navigation rather simple.

Update, 8 August 2014:
We have negotiated extra nights around the conference days for those needing extra nights at the conference hotels.
For those of you who are planning to stay at the conference hotel, the special conference rate can be obtained here .

Update, 4 August 2014:
For those of you who are planning your travel to Fort Collins, Colorado, for the conference, please note that the conference will run all day, Wednesday 17 September and Thursday 18 September. The workshops and tutorial will be held on Tuesday 16 September. There will be events each of those nights. You will almost certainly be flying into Denver International Airport, which is roughly 70 miles (110 km) and just over an hour away from the conference hotel and conference site.
On the 17th, for the conference Social Activity (See "Social Activities" webpage for more information), conference attendees are encouraged to take the Fort Collins MAX if they do not have their own transportation, which has its main page here . The MAX is just $1.25 to ride. There are many stations along Mason Street, which is just two blocks west of the conference hotel (west is toward the mountains), and the MAX will get you comfortably into Old Town should you choose to join the Wednesday evening event or visit Old Town on other days around the conference. The schedule is posted here . For those of you driving your own vehicle, there is copious parking in Old Town Fort Collins, including ample paid parking at #6 and #8 structures as shown here .
To get to Fort Collins from the Denver airport, you can choose the Airport Super Shuttle , which I just found to be $32 each way. This is not a bad idea, even if you want a car to get around Fort Collins, because the conference hotel has a car rental (See "Services & Amenities" tab here ) service with the rental car location just a few block south of the hotel. This will be a lower rental car rate than renting from Denver International Airport (DIA), although if you plan to do any other traveling around the DocEng conference, you may wish to rent and return a car from DIA.
The conference will not be providing any shuttles, so you will need to provide your own transport from the hotel to the conference (Hewlett-Packard) site and to the evening events. If you do not have a car, you can use the bus (though you will need to take the MAX from Horsetooth to Harmony and transfer to the #16 line--see the complete schedule here --I have not attempted this myself, but you will need to allow yourself approximately 45 minutes based on similar routing through Fort Collins. Note that the conference site is half a mile east of the intersection of Harmony and Ziegler roads) and/or carpool with other attendees. If you cannot find a ride to/from the conference, and don't want to rent a car, you may opt for a Fort Collins Taxi . The conference site is 3404 E. Harmony Rd. Fort Collins CO 80528, 4 miles from the conference hotel and roughly 8 miles from Old Town. Taxis for these two rides should cost about $15-$20 depending on the traffic situation.
